on January 1st, 2011, the Korean government added an amendment to the 33rd article of the Intellectual Property Rights Registration Decree essentially stating that the trademark rights holder must attain notarization from one's own country. According to this amendment of the Korean Intellectual Property Rights Registration Decree, all notarizations for recordation of changes (such as change of name/address, assignment, merger, etc.) must be notarized in the country that the corporation was registered.
